Preschool Bentos

I warned you that you would get whatever popped into my brain!

As most if you know, I am starting to really love the idea of bento lunches. However, I have only one child in school and he is preschool age. So, I started packing simple, preschool friendly bentos on his school days. He goes twice a week and I am having blast created lunches that will make his buddies jealous. Here is what I have come up with so far:

Bat Bento

Car Bento, notice the read and green "light" cereal

Pumpkin Bento

Superhero bento

Yellow Bento, for yellow day at school

pirate bento, with treasure juice box
Ben (my son) has seemed to enjoy his lunches so far this year. I look forward to creating more as the year goes by. I always use whatever I already have in the house. Other great bento supplies include:
  • tooth picks
  • paper
  • cookie cutters
  • food pens
  • sprinkles
  • muffin papers
  • fun shaped foods
I hope this inspires a little bit of creativity for you. It really doesn't take much money or even much time to create these fun little lunches. These meals take me between 10 and 20 minutes to design, create, and pack.

Have bento fun!

All Good Things

Must Come to an End...

And so it goes with this school year's bento lunches. My sons' semester at "baby school" had its final classes today. Next school year my eldest will be taking the big step into a real preschool. I'm both excited and sad about this. He is growing up way to fast and to me he will always be my baby. All this is beside the point! I do have two fun little bento lunches to share.

I wanted to do something special for their final hurrah!

For my ninja- a fully loaded, with chopsticks, stealth packed lunch. Including ninja star gummies and a candy ninja!

For my mini picky minion- Peanut butter pop tart minion with "banana" gummies and candies. A few little lunch meat test tubes finish off the meal!

Rachel Joy Scott

April is the month I choose to focus on ladies from both the past and present that have or currently inspire me in someway. I am purposefully choosing to only speak on those aspects of each woman.

I can still remember the days after this event. The first child to lose her life in the Columbine High School shootings in 1999, Rachel has been an inspiration to many since. Her moral character and refusal to turn on her beliefs were honorable and courageous. Her life is also the inspiration for Rachel's Challenge a " a nationwide school outreach program for the prevention of teen violence, based on her life and writings." [source] Her writings ranged from journals to prayers and everything in between. In fact, her writings have been compared to another amazing woman I noted, Anne Frank.  She was also "posthumously awarded the 2001 National Kindness Award for Student of the Year by the Acts of Kindness Association". [source]

I have always found martyrs to be inspiring, but her story is especially close to my heart. Being a young teen at the time with a similar story, it was like loosing a friend. Her precious life and its swift ending came as a reminder that there is no promise of tomorrow. We should live like today may be my last.

Neh, The End is Near

I cant say I am ready for the new school year to begin, but it begins on Thursday for me none the less! With it comes packing lunches, getting up earlier, and constantly running on E. My plans also include an attempt on eating right as well. I hope to make a life change that keeps my energy up and my clothes fitting well.

Tell me everything is going to be alright. Remind me why I do what I do.

Whatever happens, God has it in His hands and I don't need to worry about it.

Looking Forward

As the new school year begins I plan on showing off some fashion again. I also hope to bring fun new theme for September. Put dibs in now if you would like to have a hand in what we talk about next month! We have a few choices to consider:
Flashback- Stories and trends from my and far past
Call Me Crafty- Lets consider all those crafty projects I've been putting off
30 before 30- Creating something a little more fun than a bucket list
The choice is yours- Discussions based on responses to basic questions and statements, its like the Apples to Apples of blogging!

Back in Action

My apologies for the length absence. I have been helping my husband feel out some rather lengthy applications. We hope these applications turn out to be a new start and some great news. Until then, I am reminded that the school year's start is just around the corner. Some schools are starting as early as a week or two from now! Although I am looking forward to the new year, I am also dreading it. I get very spoiled by all this extra time with my kids and the hub-a-lub. However, I have some great inspiration to start the new year fresh, no matter where it sees me. Over the next few weeks, we will be discussing these lovely ideas, assuming we don't have a big change in plans.

I know you have missed me here on my blog, but on Pinterest I have been able to play off and on during the day. I have been finding some pin-spiration! If you want, you can check it out!

Until then, what is you favorite part of back to school? As a child I loved getting new clothing. It made me feel like I was getting a fresh start. I wont lie, it made me feel cool!

Stay "Too Cool for School" my friends!
