Just so Classic- Denim

Denim

Last, but not least in my classic wardrobe selections- denim! Although this has not always been in a classic list, it is now something no one would go without. Certainly denim has a new more chic persona. I enjoy mixing denim with more formal and classic pieces to really create a timeless look.

Blazers with jeans, polos and pearls with a denim skirt- there is great flexibility with being modern and classic!

Just so Classic- Work Wear

Work Wear

Not every classic woman is a working woman, but I think that the numbers are now high enough to include this in my classic fashion. I happen to be a working woman and these outfits really make me think professional, classic, and timeless. Nearly all these pieces could have been purchased yesterday or years ago and still be relevant. These colors are of course not the only options. Camel, navy, pintripes, and greys all fit well in a classic wardrobe. Some people would also include a classic sheath dress which I included in the little black dress section.

Just so Classic- Underthings

Underthings

Nothing more necessary than classic underthings! Both smooth line bras and panties are requirement to look polished in any outfit. Keeping a nude color also helps keep it undetected.Of course, a little something lacy is also a classic. For special occasions and on days you really want to feel your best, these are the flare that cant be seen! (At least not be everyone!)

I also included a slimming full and skirt slip. Although the slimming aspect is not a requirement, it sure helps keep clothing smooth.

Just so Classic- Handbags

Handbags

Although the colors can range for purses and hangbags, classic colors include tans, browns, nude, black, and navy. However classic styles keep the basics are made well and can last a life time. I believe there is three main types of purses/handbags that every woman should own.
  1. A clutch- A smaller handbag that can go from day to night.
  2. A handbag- This one is for everyday use.
  3. A tote- This is really just a larger purse that is useful especially for working women. It could also be used for a more fashion friendly diaper bag for mothers!
Although I mentioned the classic colors, I love to play with color. This is one of those areas that I can do that. I do own a few classic pieces that are timeless, however I also have some great funky ones as well!

Just so Classic: Shoes

Shoes

Probably one of my favorite of accessories; shoes can make or break an outfit. Above I covered a few shoes I consider to be modern basics. I find that having a black and brown or nude pair of almost every type of shoe seems to cover most wardrobe choices. They only places this varies is the classic red heal and sandals. Sandals are one of those things you can go a bit crazy with or stay as simple as you like. They are usually affordable and can be replaced yearly so its fine to wear whatever fits your personality. The same goes for sneakers/tennis shoes. I prefer a simple design but color doesn't need to be avoided!

Some ladies avoid heels altogether, and that is perfectly acceptable too. As long as you have option for work and formal wear!

Do you have any styles you feel are classic that I missed?

Just so Classic: The Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress by amandadear featuring a flare dress

I decided to start my fashion part of being a classic woman series with the most classic garment of all- the little black dress!

The next few posts are going to have these fun little pictures created on Polyvore. Although I was not at all brand specific, I did try to pick out a few of my favorite styles of  the little black dress. It can be instantly dressed up or down and is GREAT for personalizing.

I find that nearly every woman looks classy in a black dress! The great thing about a little black dress is that is still very available in our modern world. The key is not to show too much skin. keeping the hem line no shorter than right above the knee and the neckline modest add to the timelessness of this wardrobe basic.
