Day Six: Product Review!

Today's product review is for Garnier BB Cream. I used it for the first time today. I was looking for something that was easy and could replace putting on foundation, and I think I have found it! This BB cream is sunblock plus foundation plus lotion and is ultra easy to apply. Time saved in applying one product rather than three is also a plus. The coverage is light, perfect for someone like me who is a "bare there" makeup person. Plus, you cant beat the price. If you use all three products everyday your savings will add up. I would love for it to come in a bigger bottle. I will have to see how things go in the long run, but right now I give it 4.5 stars.

So my hopes for a snow day were dashed. We had a two hour delay and nothing more. Thanks to that I do have a lunch to share! I stuck to the basics today since I didn't pack it the night before.
Notice the baggies and preprocessed foods! Nothing healthy for lunch today! Tomorrow may be another day of the same since I have yet to pack something.

We did get snow, so my clothing was comfortable. I wasn't going to spend a long time primping to go out in the weather. Hopefully tomorrow will be warmer because I want to wear a skirt in the worst way.
From the bottom: "snake skin" loafers, black pants, sparkle silver sweater, and basic white gold and diamond tiny hoops. I just threw my hair in a ponytail to avoid a bad hair day.

I have yet to do my act of kindness yet. I intended on one thing, but it fell through. I will probably surprise my husband and pack him lunch for tomorrow. He has had a very rough day which is the cherry on the very challenging year we have been having, so keep us in your prayers!

Day Five: I have a confession

I stole it! I stole my mother's jacket and I don't want to give it back. I really liked it when she got it, and now I have it! I was not at all pleased with my outfit this morning (I lacked clean laundry).  So when I got to my mother's house this morning I went searching for some way to rescue my otherwise doomed wardrobe selection. It helped...some.... So be warned!

From the top: Wind blown half do. Mauve turtleneck, large feather necklace, zebra jacket, purple cords and black shiny flats.
I don't sense tomorrow's look will be much better. Although I have plenty more clean clothes, the weather is supposed to be awful and that usually leads to changes in my outfit. I really want to wear some of my skirts! I enjoy Winter, but I am looking forward to the looks of Spring.

I tried to keep my lunch a little more age appropriate today. It was over half sweet, like me. I enjoyed my entirely finger friendly lunch quite a bit. I added some Lucky Charms just because it's March!

I need a little inspiration for my daily acts of kindness. Any thoughts? I've done well since Sunday but I need a good one for tomorrow through Saturday. Tomorrow may even be a snow day so my circle of people will be minimal. There is always someone in need of a blessing!

Day Four: Do I really look old?

Today was the second time someone has assumed I am at least ten years older than I actually am. Do I look that old? Ive been told that I don't carry myself like I am in my mid twenties (my true age). I'm not really sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing...

I cant really say too much, today my lunch and outfit may have aged me some. You have to remember that I am working with what I have. I did however leave my hair down, which, according to my mother makes me look younger.
Starting from bottom: "Snake skin" loafers, eggplant dress slacks, mint 3/4 sleeve button down blouse, silver rose right hand ring, a vintage six pence and rose pendant on a long silver chain, and silver and purple teardrop dandle earings. My hair is down with the exception of the front which is in a tiny poof.
My lunch was pretty tasty, although a tad dry. I had to cut my sandwich up in quite a few pieces to get it to fit in my tiny lunch box. Which reminds me, this is Japanese style lunch box meant for packing bento in. If you are not familiar with bento, its basically pretty picture lunches. I recommend checking out a few pictures by Googling "bento" or checking out "bento" on Pinterest.
Honey roasted turkey and Swiss on rye. Jello and peanut butter Ritz.
My goal so far for the week has been a success. I'm enjoying my random acts of kindness so much that I am doing more than one a day without really thinking about it. My next act is to do a shout out for my little brother's amazing blog. If you enjoy Science Fiction, you will be interested in his reviews and interviews. Check him out at: A Daily Dose of R&R. From movies to books and everything in between, he has something to say about that.

I have started looking into the next few months' focus for the blog. There is nothing official yet, but Im thinking next month's theme may be "My Julia Project," inspired by the movie Julie and Julia. If you have never seen this movie, I highly recommend it.
My project will not be nearly as strict, but I have been collecting a special selection of recipes I want to attempt and impress with. How do you feel about where I'm headed next month, yey or neh?

Day Three: Starting a New Week

Happy Sunday my friends! I hope today was a great start to your new week. I feel certain that this coming week will be wonderful! Church today was rather inspiring at River Church. I like Sundays for several reasons; a full day off with my family, a chance to wear my nicest clothes, and a wonderful time at church are among a few. I was rather proud of my ensemble this morning. It took several revamps throughout the morning, but it finally settled on one I think was very flattering. The inspiration for the entire outfit was based on my lovely new peacock bracelet. It is so bold, it makes a great statement piece and outfit starter.
Starting from top: Plum silk cowl neck blouse, black high waist belt with Gold buckle. Peacock statement bracelet, turquoise clutch, simple black pencil skirt, peep toe black heels.
A shout out to my new favorite hair accessories from the (you guessed it), Dollar Store! Goody's simple styles "modern updo". After church this look was dressed down with jeans, flats, and taking my hair down.

My unofficial goal for this week is to do one random act of kindness a day. I've suddenly had a great urge to give others a simple smile. Even though I don't have everything I would like to have, I have so much more than many others. I am very thankful for my many blessings and its time to spread the joy. My challenge to you this week is the same as my own. Do one random act of kindness a day, and see how YOUR life is changed.

If you enjoy my fashion, thoughts, and ideas you can check me out on Pinterest or on Polyvore. I am sure you will find much more of my randomness to enjoy!

Day Two: A little known Secret, The Dollar Store rocks!

I had a great Saturday, I got a nap! As a parent you know its a good day when that happens. I also got a little shopping done, went out to lunch with my mother, and made dinner. I'd say I had a successful day. Getting ready this morning was a bit of a challenge however. Saturdays are my "no wash" hair days, in order to give my hair a break. It is my frail attempt at keeping my curly hair healthy. I read somewhere that you are not supposed to wash your hair everyday. Therefore, I had to come up with a hair style that didn't reveal how terribly greasy my hair truly was. You will have to tell me what you think. I love Saturdays because it is pretty much the only day of the week I can wear jeans, and I take advantage of it.
Starting from the bottom: brown wedge heel boots with buckle details, jeans, large agate ring, and knit cowl neck sweater shirt.

Saturdays are also no make-up days typically, because who really needs to wear mascara to the Dollar Store? Speaking of which, I love the Dollar Store! From fashion to health and food to cleaning supplies, you can always find something useful there. Below are some of my favorite finds.

Fashion forward sunglasses, name brand hair supplies, basic health needs; the Dollar Store is a gold mine! If you are not already an avid fan, I suggest checking one out soon. They carry a lot of fun and useful things. I am a big believer in being thrifty. I work hard for my money, I want it to go as far as possible.

What are your favorite wallet friendly stores for fashion and food?

Day One: Life, Lunch, and Fashion

I'm back in action! You know its going to be an interesting day when it starts with a breakfast of Oreos and diet Dr. Pepper! I have been MIA for far too long and it is about time I get back to my intentions. You can learn a lot about a woman by how she dresses everyday. From her career to her style, clothing is window into someones personality. You can also learn a lot about someone by what they eat for lunch!

With this in mind, I'm introducing my new series "Life, Lunch, and Fashion." For one month you will follow me on my daily wardrobe journey and my work week lunch selections. As the title reveals, you will learn a little bit about my life in general as well!

Happy Dr. Seuss day! It was requested by the school I work at that we wear red today, so I obliged. This morning I wished I had a more fun collection of red clothing, but this was all I could do with the available choices.

Red 3/4 sleeve knit blouse with leather and sequins around the sleeves and on the neckline. Basic black pants and shiny black flats. Finished off with a side bun and small diamond and ruby hoops.
Thanks to my wonderful mother my lunch also fit today's holiday. Fridays are always bento box lunch days. My kids go to "baby school" that day, so I usually just pack a fun lunch for my self as well.

Cat in the Hat bologna and cheese sandwich with a banana and strawberry hat. Sides include colored Goldfish, raspberries, and juju fish.
It was a wonderful lunch and for the most part pretty healthy too. This lunch was partially inspired by a pin on Pinterest. Check it out here: 14 Dr. Seuss ideas

I am so very glad that it is the weekend! After a long week of work and little sleep (two sick munchkins can do that to you), I'm ready for some slower paced days. Since I decided to revamp my blog Ive been working on cataloging my wardrobe so it will be easier to plan clothing in advance. I dont want to have a one of those "Just throw it on" days. Although, I'm sure that is in my near future! I'm also working extra hard on my brand new job! I'm so excited to announce that I am now apart of the Growing Up in the Valley family. Check out this great new family magazine for the Roanoke Valley here: Growing Up in the Valley

Until next time, remember the story of Yertle the Turtle!

Chasing Sand

It seems the hourglass of life has allowed the sand to slip through my hands once more. Almost a year exactly has past since I attempted to write on here. My crisis of self has rollercostered it’s way to new heights and depths I can’t possible explain. At this moment, I won’t even try. I will say that I am focusing on it, as much as my mind will allow.
During the process of “focusing,” I made a resolution to make this the most romantic year of my life. This went well for about a month and a half. Not that romance stopped completely, it’s just all the effort won’t make it as real as passion will. Still, I have learned a lot and since passion ebbs and flows, this year may be everything I hoped it would be in the end.
Now, I am making a commitment to spend some time in blogging. Writing is one of the few ways I organize and contain my thoughts. Since this will be one the first summers I will not work since I was a teenager, I am eager to begin this project. Over the past year I have collected many of my journaling ventures to transform into blog posts. From romantic ideas to some of my self searching madness, I have plenty to share.
Its time to put the hourglass on slow motion; maybe even rewind, I want to let you back into my world…
